We encountered this majestic Douglas fir on Vancouver Island during one of our forest tours in the summer of 2021. This tree stands tall in this lush forest.
The original artwork Les coeurs purs persistent et signent refers to two elements. The theme of injuries becoming strengths is addressed in this work. While the gold leaf affixed to the imperfections inscribed on the trunk highlights them, the heart-shaped leaves climbing up the trunk of the tree are sometimes painted red or adorned with gold.

Museum (archive) quality pigment print on 100% cotton paper with a velvety, lightly textured matte finish. Decoupage of paper, water-based paint and 24 K gold leaf.
